John Keefe, CIM® Financial Advisor

The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.

William Arthur Ward

I take pride in learning as much about you as possible. The more time I spend with you, the more complete my understanding, and appreciation for you, your background, and your circumstances.

This typically involves meeting in-person more than once. I believe we build strong relationships with our clients because we treat them like people, not as numbers. One-on-one conversations, help me envision potential paths for your future.

As a result, the ultimate solution we prepare will be more tailored to you and your circumstances. I believe this is important. For me, few things rank higher than helping smart, successful people become financially independent and share that success with future generations.

I began my professional investment career as an Investment Advisor in 2002. I am cross-border licensed, and able to personally manage your investment accounts in Canada and in the United States.

I hold a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary. I have also successfully completed several industry courses through the Canadian Securities Institute and FINRA in the U.S. In addition, I also hold the Chartered Investment Manager CIM® designation, and I am options licensed.

You should expect me to become knowledgeable regarding almost all aspects of your finances. In addition to designing and building diversified, results-driven portfolios, I also follow a regular educational regimen. You can rely on me to stay abreast of ongoing regulatory changes, tax matters, estate issues, economic developments, and market activity, as well as how these factors may impact your wealth. I believe this is very important.

Finally, although I am serious about what I do, I try not taking myself too seriously. When I’m not working, I am usually at home with my wife of 20-plus-years and our three Norwich Terriers. I am very much a kid-at-heart. I love cooking for friends and family, playing music ( . . . not well), exercising ( . . . to offset the cooking), reading a good mystery, and watching movies from the 80s and 90s. Finally, I’m not much of a world-traveler. I’m more of a home-body ( . . . even before any global pandemic concerns).

The Chartered Investment Manager® (CIM®) Designation builds the skills and experience we need to serve a more sophisticated financial client or institution. Financial professionals who hold the CIM® designation are eligible for registration as a Portfolio Manager in Canada. They have expertise in providing money management services to high-net-worth and institutional clients, and they understand the application of portfolio management in the context of Canadian markets and regulatory requirements

What do these designations mean for you? They mean that when you work with an investment consultant who has taken the time to complete these designations, you’re working with someone who is well-versed in modern concepts of investment advice, is educated enough to understand how your individual investments are being managed and how they work together – no matter how complex it may be. These skills, along with a commitment to advanced education, enable them to provide you with the kind of service that you not only want, but deserve.
